MESSAGE FROM SITE OWNER (this is a fan-run site, not an official Chris Cain site): I never wanted to do this, but my hosting account is getting full and it's going to start costing me more to run this site. Costs include monthly hosting as well as software security updates. Also, this site runs on commercial software, not open source, so there is cost associated with that, too). Born In Santa Cruz, Ca. In 1963, only child of mother transplanted from southern US in late 50’s. Raised by deaf Grandmother who was a writer, and a hell of an old gal! learned Piano @ age 5, Clarinet @ age 7. Learned to record @ First Congregational Church @ age 8, using an open reel 4 track deck, an Ampex portable broadcast mixer and 6 B&K microphones. Traveled around US extensively in childhood, dabbled in electronics, started live sound work @ age 13. HS grad at 15, dropped out of college first year to join a rock band.(Age 16)... Produced/mixed/stage hand/some time IATSE member/Broadcast engineer/Voice over artist for next 20 years. Became drug addict, got clean in 2000. Worked at 1st radio station in 1979,also worked for Shugart associates in “79 (Pioneers of disc drive technology and parent of Seagate) went to broadcasting again as licensed Engineer in 1991 (rec’d 1st phone Lic. in 1987) raised 2 boys to ages 8 and 10. and returnec to live sound work in 2006.
